University Administration To Explore All Opportunities To Develop Ekiti Fed Varsity

Prof. Kayode Soremekun, the Vice Chancellor of the Federal University, Oye Ekiti (FUOYE), Ekiti State, has promised to use all within his power to ensure that there is development in the institution.

He also stated that no one will be punished for their role in the protest against the way things were being run in the school.

This is after members of the Senior Staff Association of Nigeria Universities (SSANU) and also the Non-Academic Staff Union (NASU), led a protest against the VC and the management of the school thereby shutting down the school as they protested unpaid November and December salaries and also the non-payment of hazard allowance.

The VC then went ahead to say that the money had been approved for their salaries and also took some time to outline his plans for the school so as to bring the school up to the standard that was required by the staff.

The VC also lamented the state of lack of power supply to the school which made the school run on electricity power generator all through which costs the institution about N10 million monthly.

He stated that he has made efforts to sort that out as he has signed an agreement with the Benin Electricity Distribution Company to connect the school with the grid so as to reduce dependence on costly alternative power source.
