Traditional Birth Attendant Allegedly Steals Baby From Nursing Mother

A traditional Attendant, one Yetunde Osin and her father a 65-year-old Jamiu Jimoh have been arrested by the operatives of Lagos State Police Command for allegedly stealing a newborn baby.

Both are at Igbogbo Police Division, Ikorodu Area of Lagos confessing to the law enforcement agents why they had stolen a baby.

According to a police source, Osin stole the baby from a women who simply identified herself as Stella at 4, Kadara Street Oyingbo, Lagos sometimes last year.

Investigation revealed that pregnant Stella, a 28-year-old woman approached Osin last year to help her deliver a baby.

After the delivery process, Osin hid the life baby from Stella and presented a dead one to her instead.

She then took the new born baby to her father, Jamiu Jimoh, in Ikorodu.

However, Stella was not convince that she gave birth to a dead baby, having heard it crying during the delivery.

She informed the police and with tipoff, the law enforcement discovered that Osin had taken the newborn baby to her father in Ikorodu.

The father was arrested on November 9, last year including Osin who claimed that she never stole the baby.

In her statement, Osin said that she found the baby under a bridge near her home at Oyingbo and took it to her father to nurse.

She denied helping Stella to deliver any baby and that she took the baby to Ikorodu because Oyingbo where she resident was not secure enough to nurse the baby.

Defending himself, Osin’s father, confessed that her daughter brought the baby to him adding that he never thought it was stolen.
