Robbers Raid Tella Estate In Akobo Area of Ibadan

Residents of Tella Estate in the Akobo area of Ibadan, Oyo State were thrown into confusion at the weekend when a gang of seven armed robbers invaded the place.

 

The robbers raided six homes, maimed residents and security men during the operation that lasted for several hours.

 

They shot repeatedly at some homes because they could not gain entrance into them and left at about 4am, a resident told our correspondent.

 

When our correspondent visited the place, scores of cartridges were found on the ground as residents gathered in groups to discuss the invasion.

Speaking, the Chairman of the landlord association in the area, Basiru Shodeyinde, said that the robbers came at about 12am and immediately the Akobo Police Station was called but there was no response from the police.

 

Shodeyinde said that the robbers took away valuables like laptops, telephone handset, jewelries and money from members of the community.

 

The chairman said that the case had since been reported at the Akobo Police Division and that investigation had begun to apprehend the armed robbers.

 

He also noted that the police had released another distress call number to the community in case of any fresh attack.
