Ritual Killer ‘Ifeanyi Dike’ Escapes From Police Custody
Suspected ritual killer, Ifeanyi Dike who raped, killed and removed vital organs of his eight-year-old niece has escaped from police net.
Dike was arrested in Port Harcourt by the Rivers State Police Command over the killing of the innocent girl, identified as Victory Chikamso last Saturday.
Speaking to our correspondent, the father of the victim, Dr. Ernest Nmezuwuba, said that the suspect was able to escape because the police officer on duty removed his handcuffs so that he could write statement.
He said that there was no electricity light at the police station and Dike took the advantage of the darkness at the premises of the Special Criminal Investigation Department to escape.
He named the police officer who removed the handcuff as Johnbosco, adding that the whole of the SCID was in darkness.
I wrote my statement with candle; imagine a whole state CID (without light). Then Johnbosco removed the handcuffs from the suspect’s hands for him (suspect) to write his statement.
Sensing a collusion of the police with the suspect, Umezuwuba said that there were armed policemen at the gate as Dike escaped but they could not apprehend him.
“I was only hearing hold am, hold am, hold am. I don’t know where the suspect passed through,” he said.
He said, “My brother, I cannot understand this country; this must be a planned game and I must fight it to the end.”
Commenting, the state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Zaki Ahmed condemned the unprofessional manner the police officers in the area had handled the situation.
He said that the command would ensure that the culprit is fished out and prosecuted.
