Our Mother Killed Our Father Over Christmas Rice – Children
Children of one Mr. Leo Parker of Ekeki, a suburb of Yenagoa, Bayelsa State have alleged that their mother Mrs. Favour Parker killed their father over last Christmas Rice.
The children who reported the housewife to the police said that the discord between their parents started on December 23, 2016 when the two were arguing over the cost of rice.
Investigation revealed that the man gave N27, 000 to the woman to buy a bag of foreign rice but the wife bought N10, 000 local rice and diverted N17, 000 into her private account.
The brawl subsided due to the intervention of the children during the yuletide but last week Saturday, the parents resumed their hostility when the woman requested for some funds and the husband refused to give her.
Findings showed that both of them were in the room when the woman clubbed the husband to death.
It took a five-year-old grandchild of the man who incidentally strolled to the room and saw the lifeless body of the man on the floor to notice the intensity of the crime.
The child alerted the other children who rushed in and found out that the woman had been packing her property out of the house.
She was consequently stopped and was handed over to the police where she confessed that she accidentally clubbed the husband to death because of some arguments.
However, spokesman of the state Police Command, Mr. Asinim Butswat, dismissed as untrue claims that the housewife clubbed her husband dead over purchase of Christmas rice.
Butswat, in a chat with Vanguard yesterday, said following investigation, there was no sign of the deceased being clubbed to death by the wife. He said the deceased‘s death was natural.
