Nigeria/Cameroon: Udom Emmanuel Promises $10, 000 Per Goal
Akwa Ibom State Governor, Udom Emmanuel has promised $10, 000 for each goal scored by the Nigeria Super Eagles as they face the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon this evening.
The match, which will be played at Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo is the first leg of the double header of the World Cup qualifier slated for Russian in 2018.
Speaking at a news conference, Emmanuel said that Nigerians were ready to cheer Super Eagles to victory as he urged the players to give their best in ensuring that they take the maximum three points in the game.
Emmanuel presented $30, 000 to the players for their win against Algeria in which they scored three goals.
This is a much awaited game for the Super Eagles to redeem their image after losing 0:2 to South Africa at home in AFCON qualifier a few months ago.
Most Nigerians have lost hope in the team but the new spirit in camp revealed that the players would be all out to suppress their rival, the indomitable lions.
Speaking, the team captain, John Mikel Obi said that the team is made of experienced old players and talented young ones that can overpower the Cameroonians.
He called on Nigerians to support the team adding, “We are ready to redeem our image by beating the Cameroon team.”
Nigeria is topping the table with six points in two matches, followed by Cameroon with two points, also in two matches.
