Nigeria News: Buhari Bounces Back
Nigeria News Take a look at the fresh pictures released by the media team during its visit to President Muhammadu Buhari in London.
Witten boldly at the back of the journal is “Get Well Soon”. President Muhammadu Buhari and four others had glued their eyes reading from the journal.
Buhari, the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed and Senior Special Assistant on Online and Digital Media, Lauretta Onochie, held on to the book as the president’s two media aides, Mr. Femi Adesina and Mallam Garba Shehu peeped.
The second picture showed the president’s Senior Special Assistant on Diaspora Affairs, Mrs. Abike Dabiri-Erewa smiling as Buhari led the way.
Dressed in white Kaftan on his lanky frame, the president beamed his teeth as he bounced on the lawn to show how kind God had been to him.
He has been on medical vacation in London for about 90 days and has received a few delegations from Nigeria but on Saturday when the media team paid him a get well visit, Buhari showed up brightly.
He had received two delegations of governors in his sitting room as depicted by pictures, having lunch with them.
The pictures had received backlash back home as critics described it as photo craft. The former Minister of Aviation, Mr. Femi Fani-Kayode and a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party alleged that the picture was fake, claiming that all the products displayed on the lunch table were made in Nigeria.
He said that the picture was taken in Abuja when some governors came to break Ramadan fasting with the president.
Fani-Kayode stated that he was sure that Buhari was on life support machine as revealed by his party member and Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose.
The Ekiti Governor once said that he had six pictures where Buhari was put on life support machine and that it would release to the media at the appropriate time.
Since he made the statement, the governor had failed to do so. However the visit of the media team to Buhari in the United Kingdom brought hope, passion and life back to Nigeria as the president walked with the team with figure and renewed carriage.
The president said, “I would have loved to be home but I cannot do that without my doctor’s consent.”
He told the team that he has recovered and ready to perform his duty but he must obey the doctor’s advice before taking any step now.
“I have learnt to obey and I will not want to do anything without my doctor’s advice. I have learnt to obey order instead of being obeyed,” the president said.
He says that he follows the events as it goes on at home, including the criticism and prayers for him by the country and other African countries.
Two protests were held last week in Abuja. One for Buhari and another against him. The Civil Society Organisation, “Our Mumu Don Do” led by popular artiste Charles Oputa also known as Charly Boy had asked the president to return home or resign.
Another group had asked the president to remain in London to take care of his health before coming back home. In all these, a Human Right Activist, Lagos Lawyer, Mr. Femi Falana said that the president had not contravened the constitution for staying too long in abroad since he had transmitted power to his vice before proceeding on medical holiday.
He explained that the constitution is silent on how long the president could stay away from office due to health problem. Buhari is in London but fresh facts show that he is in better shape and may return home soon.
