Mother of Late Babcock Student Says Her Son Was Manipulated into Committing Suicide
The mother of Verishima Unokyoh Junior, a late undergraduate student of Babcock University, Ilishan-Remo, Ogun State who committed suicide has stated that her son didn’t do it of his volition as he was manipulated into committing suicide.
19-year old Verishima Unokyoh Junior who hailed from Benue State and was studying Social Work at the university had committed suicide just after the new year in their residence at Ewu Tuntun, Mafoluku Oshodi in Lagos.
His mum, Patricia who is also a widow and works with the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, said her son couldn’t have done such to himself without external influence as he wasn’t predisposed to such actions.
She said her son was an usher in the Pentecostal church and never looked for trouble while he was alive although that his extremely reserved and shy nature while alive, gave her concern.
Although she sounded a bit contradictory because she obviously had some fears considering that her son became more withdrawn after he got admission into the university and despite her best efforts she couldn’t get him to open up to her.
