Flavour, Diamond Platnumz Set To Perform At AFCON 2017 Opening Ceremony
Nigerian multi award winning superstar high-life singer, Flavour ‘N’ abania has been confirmed as a performing act alongside Tanzania’s Diamond Platnumz for the opening ceremony of 2017 African Cup of Nations in Gabon.
The tournament which just kicks off in about three days has some sort of a reduced significance for Nigerian football fans as the super eagles were unable to qualify for the competition which is in its 31st edition.
The super star pair had already shown what they are capable of at the just concluded Glo-CAF Award 2016 in Abuja where they held the audience spell bound with their performances which drew critical acclaim.
The opening ceremony will hold at the 40,000-seater friendship stadium in Libreville, Gabon and will be succeeded by the first match of the tournament which will feature hosts, Gabon taking on Guinea–Bissau after which the other teams in the group, Cameroun and Burkina Faso will slug it out.
The prize money for this years AFCON is the biggest ever with the top team at the end of the competition on 5 February to take home a $4 million, which is a 65 percent increase from the previous $1.5 million which the winner took at the last tournament.
The winner will also represent Africa at the confederations cup in Russia later in the year.
