Easter Tragedy: Gunmen Kill 3 Policemen, Two Civilians, Abduct 4 in Lagos
Three police officers and two civilians have been killed while four other persons abducted by gunmen at Oko-Asagun Village in Ibeju Lekki Local Government Area of Lagos.
The tragedy occurred on Thursday when six heavily armed men wearing hood stormed the place and shot sporadically to kill the policemen attached to an estate developer in the village.
They also killed two civilians and abducted four people during the operation, Lagos State Police Command Public Relations Officer (PPRO), ASP Olarinde Famous-Cole confirmed this, adding that the police officers were caught unaware.
According to the command, the gunmen abducted four staff of two Telecommunication companies, YDACOM Limited and Erickson Limited.
The gunmen who entered the Village through Ode-Omi creek, a border town between Lagos and Ogun States also escaped through the same route with their captives.
As at press time, the abductors had not contacted the relatives of their captives while police had been on their trail on rescue operation.
Speaking, one Mr. Jude Ajagun, an eyewitness said he was at the site owned by one Mr. Onoside working when the gunmen emerged.
“The gunmen thereafter, abducted four staff of Telecom companies and marched them towards Ode-Omi,” AJagun said.
Commenting, a staff of Erickson who refused to mention his name said that the abductors had not contacted them and that the management of the company had been running from pillar to pole to ensure that the captives regain their freedom.
“Nobody has contacted us. Our staff are innocent people, they should be treated like human beings. We are begging the abductors,” he said.
