Candidates Lament As JAMB Postpones UTME
Millions of candidates who are preparing for this year Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination have expressed their disappointment with the Joint Admission Matriculation Board, JAMB.
Some of the candidates were at various registration centres to write the mock of UTME as arranged by JAMB, only to discover that the board had shifted the date.
The candidates who arrived the accredited centre in Lagos as early as 7am stood in the scorching sun for hours without any information from JAMB until about 2pm when they learnt that the mock examination would not hold anymore.
The board has therefore extended the ongoing registration for the UTME by two weeks while the examination would now be written on Saturday, May 13, 2017 to May 20, 2017.
Reacting to the anomalies, the JAMB Registrar, Professor Ishaq Oloyede, attributed the shift to logistics, which the board had since been addressed.
He said that instead of April 19, the deadline for the sale of forms and registration was now extended to Friday, May 5, 2017.
Our correspondent who visited one of the centres at Surulere Knowledge Ware Technology, Itire Road observed how frustrated the candidates were as many of them complained to have wasted time and morning getting preparing for mock.
Things are never put write in this country. To organize ordinary examination is a problem. What will happen to the markings, a candidate, Idris Abodunde lamented.
