Cable Theft in Abuja: FCT Police Nab 7 Armored Cable Thieves
The Federal Capital Territory, FCT Police have arrested seven suspects for allegedly stealing armoured Cable in the Abuja metropolis.
FCT Police Commissioner, CP Musa Kimo said this while parading some suspects who specialized on electric cable vandalization in Abuja, early this morning.
He said that the suspects were arrested while attempting to cart away the items in the early hours, following power outage in the FCT.
The suspects are Abubakar Musa 29 years, Ali Sani 25 years, Umar Ibrahim 25 years, Iliyasu Abubakar 20 years, Kabiru Abdullahi 31years, Umar Abubakar 28 years and Mustapha Iliyasu 19 years.
“They had already cut the cables as earlier as 1:00 am and about loading it into 2 vehicles, a Volkswagen wagon with Registration No GWA 180 AP and Volkswagen Golf with Registration No BMJ 51 XA when the police apprehended them.
Omorodion said that the suspects were currently being interrogated and that the police would soon charge them to court.
He explained that there were increased incidents of cable theft in the FCT and that the police would not fold their hands.
Calling on the thieves to refrain from the act of vandalism and theft, the police Command Public Relations Officer, said that there is constant patrol of the FCT to nab more of the thieves.
