17 Killed In Fresh Borno Suicide Attack In Kofa Community
The Borno State Police Command said about 17 persons have been killed in multiple fresh suicide attacks in a Maiduguri suburb.
The spokesman of the command, Victor Isuku confirmed this on Monday, adding that five female bombers attacked Kofa, Konduga local government area to wreak the havoc.
According to the press statement signed by Isuku, the five suicide bombers died with 12 other innocent citizens instantly.
The statement also revealed that 11 persons were seriously injured in the area, about eight kilometres to Maiduguri.
The statement read: “Multiple suicide bomb attacks happened yesterday Sunday 18/6/2017, at about 2030hrs, five female suicide bombers detonated IED strapped to their bodies in Kofa community, which is about 8km from Maiduguri town and situated along Maiduguri- Konduga road.
The statement explained that the first suicide bomber detonated her bomb close to a mosque while the second detonated in a house killing seven and five persons respectively.
“While two other suicide bombers detonated within the same vicinity, killing themselves only.
Meanwhile the 11 persons that were injured had since been rushed to University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital for treatment, the statement clarified.
The police have mobilized EOD team to the scene to maintain peace.
